SOCIAL JUSTICE AND OUTREACH
Social Action and Justice / Community Outreach
Inspired by Jesus and the Gospel values reflected in the Catholic Social Teachings, the students and staff of the St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School community recognises that to follow the call of Jesus authentically, they must take action to be part of a solution by embracing and bringing to fruition the principles of all Catholic Social Teachings.
“Act Justly, Love Tenderly, and Walk Humbly with our God” Micah 6:8.
This is accomplished through the belief that all humans are created in the image of God and reflect the gift of virtues to the wider world.
Reflecting the charism and influence of the Josephite Order, the Saint Joseph’s Catholic School community works together to support those who require assistance through service projects and outreach.

Adopting Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop’s image of God; a God who will ‘provide in all circumstances’ and her approach; ‘to never see a need without doing something about it’ has formed the basis of the school motto, ‘To Love is to Serve,.’ Through the application of the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, the St Joseph’s school community recognises that each person has a moral obligation to develop a deep sense of social justice which challenges each individual to ‘stand with’ and ‘make a difference’ in the lives of others.
In keeping with the charism and influence of the Josephite Order, the members of the St Joseph's Wandal community work together to support those within the school and local community who are in need of assistance through service projects and outreach. Throughout her life, dedicated to spreading the message of Jesus to the world, Saint Mary of the Cross Mackillop ‘never saw a need without doing something about it’. This approach inspires students and staff at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Wandal and classes are encouraged to take on appropriate Social Justice.
